Ali Asgar defends playing drawn  on The Kapil Sharma Show as Mukesh Khanna express it ‘fuhad’

Actor Ali Asgar, who was an integral part of The Kapil Sharma Show, has defended playing drawn characters in it. Ali played the role of Grandmother in Comedy Nights with Kapil from 2013 to 2016 and Nani in The Kapil Sharma Show from 2016 to 2017. Recently, actor Mukesh Khanna, in a conversation with Ali on his YouTube channel, called his character “fuhad (weird)”. To which Ali replied, “This is your personal opinion. So I can’t say anything. People always ask why they make a boy a girl. I think the reason for this is that no one’s grandmother will be like me. She won’t be as energetic”.
He further added, “Our shooting timings will be very odd. We used to shoot very late at night, after shooting two episodes a day. Gag and integration, gag and integration had to happen, so there was a lot of delay. Now, in all this, if you make a senior actress a grandmother then she will find it difficult to shoot for so long, being an old lady.
Mukesh Khanna interrupted Ali and said, “This is not the right reason, don’t heroines work all night?” Ali further said, ‘My second reason is that when we make a boy a woman, it is not an original character in itself. So, we can take a lot of creative liberties and have a lot of fun. Since the character is not original, there is nothing to be angry about.
Ali then praised Kapil’s comedic susceptibility as he reminisced about being a part of the hit comedy show. He said, “The premise of the show is a family which is full of glamour. Then there is a grandmother, these are two sisters, Gutthi, who is played by Sunil (Grover), a servant and a wife. This is a poor family, they have no money, they are paupers. All the characters we played in the show, we were all Dalits. “We will make fun of ourselves before making fun of anyone else.”
“Kapil’s knowledge is amazing, he knows the pulse of the audience, it is amazing. He knows exactly which jokes will work and which will fail. We have seen it in the live show, whatever he said will happen. He’s blessed that way,” Ali concluded.
