‘Army settle land’ issue on LPD highlights

The Office of Landowners Pattadars, Dimapur (LPD), whose lands were under army occupation in Dimapur, has enquired of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur whether “action” has been taken in connection with the pending matter of the “army-occupied” land issue.

In a representation to Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, the Landowners Pattadars president, K Thong, secretary, Ajao Kense, and ex-member, Vizolie Mepfuo, said a joint meeting of landowners and pattadars officer bearers with the Deputy Commissioner Dimapur was held on February 6 in the presence of Revenue Officer Dimapur, wherein the issue pertaining to “prolong pending of army-occupied land in Dimapur Town” was deliberated.

The signatories said the DC Dimapur agreed to forward the matter to the Ministry of Defense. However, they said it was learned from the Revenue Branch that the matter was forwarded to the government of Nagaland for “opinion.”.

Noting that “sufficient time” has been taken, the landowner pattadars have asked “what action has been taken in this connection” and asked the Deputy Commissioner to look into the matter.
