The launching programme of Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 2.0, an initiative by the ministry of Health & Family Welfare was held at Jalukie Town on September 24. District Tobacco Control Cell Peren, in association with the Jalukie Police Station, District Enforcement Force, and United Riders Motorcycle Club, coordinated the event. The campaign’s objectives are to increase youth awareness, work with law enforcement, and include the community in order to create a healthier, tobacco-free future. During the ceremony, Dr. Niriethono Zetsovi, the Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Peren, stated that tobacco smoking was the primary cause of cancer and that it accounted for the majority of instances of mouth cancer.
Therefore, according to Dr. Niriethono, it was time to wake up and begin taking charge of one’s health. In his brief remarks, District Nodal Officer Dr. Aoyanger thanked each and every attendee and the United Riders Motorcycle Club Peren. He believed that the bikers’ group’s campaign would have a significant impact on young people. In her keynote speech, social worker Hoineichin from NTCP Peren focused on the campaign’s tactics. The United Riders Motorcycle Club rode through the town center and public spaces to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco use as part of the celebration of the day, which was kicked off by the OC Jalukie Police Station in Disa Haikube.
