Badshah Pays Emotional Tribute to Dharmendra on Indian Idol 16

Mumbai, Nov 27: Singer-rapper Badshah paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Bollywood legend Dharmendra on the sets of Indian Idol 16, turning the atmosphere emotional as the industry remembered the veteran actor’s towering legacy.

In a video shared by the show’s host channel, Badshah recalled Dharmendra with deep respect, describing him as the “real essence of Punjab”. He added that with his passing, it feels as though “that beautiful fragrance and essence has been lost from the soil of our Punjab.” The rapper further expressed that Dharmendra was “everybody’s idol”, admired across generations for his charisma, warmth, and contribution to Indian cinema.

Badshah concluded his tribute by reciting a shayari once penned by Dharmendra himself, offering prayers for the actor’s peace and happiness wherever he may be. His words moved both the audience and fellow judges, including Shreya Ghoshal and Vishal Dadlani, who joined in remembering the late star with moist eyes.

Dharmendra, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 89, was one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved actors, known for classics such as Sholay, Phool Aur Patthar, and Chupke Chupke. His death has left a void in the industry, with tributes pouring in from colleagues, fans, and admirers worldwide. Actress Hema Malini, his longtime co-star and wife, also expressed her profound grief, calling him her “everything.”

The episode of Indian Idol 16 thus became a poignant moment of remembrance, blending music with heartfelt emotion as the show honored Dharmendra’s enduring legacy.
