Chen Area Students’ Union Raises Issues Affecting Chen Area

The Chen Area Students’ Union (CASU) has urged the state government to take immediate action on several critical issues affecting residents of the Chen area in Mon district.

In a press release, CASU vice president and general secretary stated that the union had submitted multiple representations to the school education department regarding the severe shortage of teachers from primary to high school levels across villages. During a meeting with the school education advisor and principal director, CASU presented a detailed chart outlining subject-wise teacher shortages and related challenges.

To boost student enrollment and academic performance, CASU urged swift intervention from the concerned authorities.

On healthcare, the union informed the principal director of H&FW on July 11, 2025, about the urgent need for a full-time medical officer at Chenmoho PHC and staff at Chingkao PHC, citing the hardships villagers face due to inadequate healthcare.

CASU also submitted a letter to the PWD (R&B) chief engineer, highlighting poor road quality on the Aboi-Chen stretch under PMGSY-II and requested the mandated five year maintenance.
