The Army, Navy, and Air Force submitted a number of recommendations to the Defence Acquisition Council, which was chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, for the purchase of military equipment totaling approximately Rs 79,000 crore. The army has been given Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for the purchase of the Ground-Based Mobile ELINT System (GBMES), High Mobility Vehicles (HMVs) with Material Handling Crane, and Nag Missile System (Tracked) Mk-II (NAMIS), according to an official statement issued after the meeting at the South Block here. The army’s ability to destroy enemy combat vehicles, bunkers, and other field fortifications will be improved by the acquisition of the tracked NAMIS, while GBMES will offer 24/7 electronic intelligence on opponent emitters.
According to the statement, the deployment of HMVs will greatly enhance the forces’ logistical assistance across a range of geographic terrains. Along with the army and air force, the Indian Navy will be able to conduct amphibious operations with the aid of the LPDs. Additionally, the LPDs’ integrated maritime capability will support the Indian Navy’s humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and peacekeeping missions.
