Google has launched its AI-powered search mode in Hindi, making its conversational and context-aware search capabilities available to millions of Hindi-speaking users across India. The rollout is part of a broader expansion that includes four other languages: Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese.
AI Mode uses Google’s Gemini 2.5 model to deliver more intuitive and comprehensive answers to complex queries. Unlike traditional keyword-based search, this feature allows users to ask layered questions and receive detailed responses that combine real-time data, web sources, and Google’s Knowledge Graph.
In Hindi, users can now interact with AI Mode by typing, speaking, or uploading images. For example, someone can upload a photo of their garden and ask in Hindi which plants would thrive during the monsoon season. The system supports follow-up questions, comparisons, and personalized suggestions, all tailored to local context and language nuances.
Hema Budaraju, Vice President of Product Management for Search at Google, said, “Building a truly global Search goes far beyond translation. It requires a nuanced understanding of local information.”
AI Mode is accessible via a dedicated tab on the Google Search results page and is currently available in over 180 countries. Google plans to make it the default search experience in the future, as part of its strategy to reinvent Search for the AI era. The Hindi launch is expected to significantly boost digital inclusion and empower users to explore the web more deeply in their preferred language.
