At the 2nd NECDC Senior Women Tournament 2025 in Rangpo, Sikkim, Meghalaya defeated Nagaland by 29 runs to win Group A. After Meghalaya lost the toss and were forced to bat first, Debasmita Dutta once again excelled with a scorching 68 off 65 balls. Nagaland could only muster 93/9 in response to Meghalaya’s 122/4 in 20 overs. With two victories in two games, Meghalaya finished first in Group A after defeating Mizoram yesterday. Second place went to Nagaland, who defeated Mizoram on the first day.
The competition, which is being hosted by the Sikkim Cricket Association and organized by the North East Cricket Development Council, will advance to the semifinals for the top two teams. Neha Hajong (20 from 21 balls) and a late appearance by Ajima Sangma (15 not out from 7) helped Meghalaya record a competitive total, while Debasmita hit 10 fours in her half-century. Opening batswoman Debasmita got out in the final over despite almost carrying her bat through the innings. For Nagaland, Imsusenla Longkumer, Mengusenuo, and Sariba Khan each claimed a wicket.
Nagaland faced Meghalaya in a cricket match, with Ajima scoring two runs and another via run out. Monica Singh had the best bowling figures for Meghalaya, taking 2/13 in 4 overs. Debasmita was named Player of the Match, her second in back-to-back games. Meghalaya will face Manipur in the first semifinal.
