Yanthungo Patton, the deputy chief minister and the newly appointed head of the Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), has issued a warning to government workers that the “No Work, No Pay” policy will be rigorously enforced. During Tuesday’s DPDB meeting at the DC Conference Hall in Wokha, Patton discussed plans for unforeseen departmental inspections and emphasized the importance of regular attendance. He said that the salaries of absent employees would be used to support the district’s civic society.
Patton also asked department heads to provide suggestions for development initiatives and infrastructure needs. Additionally, he said that starting next month, DPDB meetings will now be held on Saturdays and that officials are required to attend. The office for the Wokha Deputy Commissioner would be constructed to resemble a miniature secretariat, and Patton asked Lotha Hoho, LSU, and Lotha Women Hoho to monitor the contractor’s progress. He warned that funding would not be granted if standards were not fulfilled.
Important development projects, including the proposed ADC headquarters in Doyang, the Merapani seed farm, and the Wokha-Merapani road rehabilitation, were briefed by Achumbemo Kikon, the chairman of the Bhandari SDPB. The board recognized outstanding district students during the meeting, including Sojano Erui (13th rank, Libemo Memorial School Wokha), Denben C. Murry (8th rank, Spring Dale School Wokha), and Zejano H. Ngullie (17th rank, Fernbrook School Wokha). Patton himself gave Rs. 20,000 to each achiever.
