Nagaland’s Women Resource Development and Horticulture Minister, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, officially inaugurated the Innovative Farmers Demo Park at Botsa in Kohima district on Friday. The event saw the esteemed presence of Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, adding significance to the occasion.
During her address, Minister Kruse highlighted the transformative potential of the Demo Park in enhancing income generation and supporting livelihood diversification for farmers in the region. She further emphasized the department’s strategic push for Horti Tourism, designed to generate local revenue by creating recreational opportunities for residents and tourists alike.
Horticulture Secretary Akumla Chuba encouraged farmers to maximize the Demo Park’s resources by adopting innovative agricultural techniques showcased at the site. Additionally, Horticulture Director Meyasashi outlined the primary objective of the project, which is to serve as a hub for demonstrating improved horticultural technologies, advanced farming practices, and new crop varieties. The initiative aims to equip the farming community with practical skills and knowledge that can improve productivity and sustainability.
The inauguration marks a significant step toward modernizing agriculture in Nagaland and underscores the state’s commitment to empowering its farmers with the latest innovations and opportunities.
