Japanese automaker Nissan has outlined an ambitious revival strategy for India, declaring 2026 as the year of brand resurgence. Speaking at the launch of the new seven-seater MPV Nissan Gravite, Managing Director Saurabh Vatsa said the company is preparing for a major turnaround driven by new products and expanded market coverage.
Currently selling only the Nissan Magnite in India, Nissan plans to introduce two more SUVs—the Tekton and a larger C-segment seven-seater—within the next 12 months. The refreshed lineup will span four vehicle segments, with prices ranging from Rs 6 lakh to nearly Rs 20 lakh, targeting a combined segment potential of about 2.5 million units.
Exports will remain a key growth pillar, with Nissan aiming to cross 1 lakh units in overseas shipments from India by FY2026-27. The company is also expanding its dealership network from 160 to 250 outlets across Tier I and Tier II cities to strengthen customer reach.
Thierry Sabbagh, President for the Middle East, India, and other regions, reaffirmed India’s strategic importance alongside markets such as the United States, Japan, China, and the Middle East.
Manufactured at its alliance partner facility in Chennai, the Gravite is priced between Rs 5.65 lakh and Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom), marking the start of what Nissan calls a sustained growth phase in India.
