No long run ups, no waist breaking, Shami started bowling

Mohammed Shami has been out of the Indian team since the one-day World Cup. He injured his ankle. Shami played in the World Cup with that injury. He underwent surgery in February. But I am still not fully recovered. It is expected to take a few more months. However, Shami started bowling at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.

Shami is under the supervision of doctor Nitin Patel and strength and conditioning coach Rajinikanth at the NCA. His childhood coach Badruddin said, “Shami has started bowling. Not bowling with long run-ups. The whole waist is not breaking when releasing the ball. But saying this is a big deal.”

Mohammed Shami was last seen playing in the 2023 World Cup final. Since then, he has not been available for the tour of South Africa, the England series at home, the IPL, or the current T20 World Cup. The Indian Cricket Board has already released India’s schedule after the World Cup. India is scheduled to play a Test and T20 against Bangladesh at home. The series will be held in September and October. Shami is expected to return to the Indian team at that time. But it is still not clear.

An acquaintance of Shami said, “Shami will be seen in the Indian jersey very soon. Social media shows how it is progressing. He is working very hard. But if you start bowling normally, it is possible to clearly say when Shami will return to the field.”

Rishabh Pant, Yashpreet Bumrah, Lokesh Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer were rehabilitated by the National Cricket Academy after major injuries. They also had to rehab. Shami, who has not played cricket for the past six months, will also undergo rehab.
