Storm destroyed 5,000 houses damaged

Nearly 5,000 houses and crops sown on scores of acres of farmland have been damaged in the powerful storm that struck Jalpaiguri district and parts of near Cooch Behar and Alipurduar on Sunday, The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the Mercy Fellowship Church in Jalpaiguri,she  said the administration is monitoring the situation in the storm-affected area.she has discussed steps to be taken ahead as part of the relief programme.“Five thousand houses have been destroyed in Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and Alipurduar due to the storm. Some houses were completely demonstate, and  some houses have been partially,.while others sustained minor injury. All three districts were discussed at the managrrial leval. Several urban lands have also been destroyed. Banerjee told The mediapersons.administration will look into it.
