A ten-day course on “Technology smart agricultural interventions for doubling framers’ income and entrepreneurship development in the NEH region: Strategies and approaches” organized by the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) Research Complex for North-Eastern Hills (NEH), Medziphema, culminated on February 7.
A press release by ICAR Medziphema stated that the course was initiated with the objective of disseminating knowledge and framing strategies for enhancing agricultural productivity and entrepreneurship development in the Northeast. ICAR said the course was framed and conducted to address various opportunities and challenges facing the agricultural sector in the northeast.
Scientist and course coordinator, Dr. Mahak Singh, informed us that the event elaborately covered diverse topics that were of immense importance in the agricultural sector.
During the ten-day course, 35 lecturers were delivered through physical and online modes by scientists from different ICAR institutes across the country, such as ICAR-IARI, New Delhi, ICAR-NBPGR, ICAR-NRC on Mithun, ICAR-IVRI, Izatnagar, ICAR-CSSRI, RRS, Lucknow, ICAR-CCRI RRC, Biswanath Chariali, CAU, and the ICAR research complex for the NEH region, Umiam.
Furthermore, field visits to Mithun Farm, ICAR Nagaland Centre Farm, Khonoma Village, and Moava Village were organized to provide the participants with practical insights into agriculture and allied practices and innovations. A total of 15 participants from Nagaland, Meghalaya, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh attended the course.
The event was concluded with the release of training manuals and participation certificates in the presence of the director of the NRC on Mithun, Dr. Girish Patil, the dean of the College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Jalukie, Dr. I. Shakuntala, and the head of the regional center at the ICAR Nagaland Centre, Dr. H. Kalita.
