China is worried about losing control of its neighbor, Myanmar, since Russia recently supplied the military government there with six Sukhoi SU-30 fighter aircraft. Notably, China is now dealing with substantial technical issues with its JF17 Thunder fighter plane, which makes the delivery a significant worry for the nation. Myanmar has previously purchased $400 million worth of Russian aircraft in 2018 as part of a larger military alliance.
The freshly commissioned SU-30 fighter jets were formally integrated into the Myanmar Air Force at Mandalay’s Meiktila Air Base. In order to protect the nation from terrorist threats and preserve its territorial integrity, the Myanmar Air Force would primarily use SU-30 fighter aircraft, according to Russia’s Deputy Minister. In addition to the military takeover that took place in 2021, Myanmar is currently experiencing a significant civil war between its ethnic groups.
The Arakan Army, which stands in for the rebels, has nearly seized control of Myanmar’s Rakhine state. However, there have been allegations of the Myanmar Air Force attacking the rebel groups since these new Russian planes were introduced. But the Arakan Army has gained a lot of territory, especially in Rakhine State. According to reports, the Myanmar Air Force has been carrying out airstrikes against rebel sites ever since the Russian jets arrived. This could mean that the current conflict is getting worse.
