The road over bridge (ROB) close to the Dimapur District Sports Council (DDSC) complex is almost finished being repaired, and by the end of January, it will be operational. According to Litangba Sangtam, project manager at Innovative Construction, the work involved demolishing and rebuilding the bridge’s initial two approach spans. In order to build prefabricated RE blocks and reinforced earth (RE) walls on the two spans, demolition work started in October of last year. With a 7.1-meter highway and 1.5-meter-wide walkways on either side, the recently rebuilt bridge is now 10.2 meters wide.
Furthermore, compared to its prior configuration, the approach road has been enlarged by around one meter. Sangtam stated that the bridge’s framework is finished and that only small jobs like installing steel handrails along the walkways and blacktopping the bridge are left to do. The project was supposed to be finished in six months, but administrative orders sped it up to four months. The PWD National Highway Division is performing the repairs, which are expected to cost Rs 2.68 crore. It is anticipated that connection will be much enhanced and the city’s long-standing traffic congestion issues would be resolved after the restoration work is finished.
