Training Program on the post-cocoon stage of Eri, Pat, and Muga silk concludes at Udalguri

At the Sericulture Department office in Udalguri, a three-day training session on technical knowledge of the post-cocoon stage of Eri, Pat, and Muga silk recently came to an end. In cooperation with the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) and the Udalguri district’s Agriculture Department, the State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Assam, Khanapara, coordinated the program. The program was attended by thirty female farmers who were connected to the Udalguri Sericulture Department. Rajiv Bhuyan, the Director of SAMETI, Khanapara, officially opened the training program. Agriculture Officer, Udalguri, Deepak Medhi, Assistant Agriculture Director, Dwijen Choudhury, and others attended the first event.

Anup Kumar Barman, a Senior Technical Assistant at the Central Pat-Muga Board and Regional Sericulture Research and Training Centre in Guwahati, gave the farmers information on the post-cocoon stage, associated processes, sericulture activities, and the significance of silkworm rearing. A number of topics were covered in the training, including the stages of silkworm development, gathering and processing cocoons, producing silk yarn, and using reeling and cutting machinery. During hands-on training sessions, the participating farmers actively participated. Farmers who took part in the program received diplomas at the conclusion.
