Agartala, August 4, 2025 — Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has announced that the state’s first international cricket stadium, located at Narsingarh near Agartala airport, is expected to be completed by December 2025. The declaration was made during the inauguration of the KC Girls’ School Cricket Ground in Kamalpur, where a celebrity T10 exhibition match was held between the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) and the Bengal Tigers.
Calling it a “historic day” for Kamalpur and Tripura’s sporting community, Saha emphasized the government’s commitment to developing sports infrastructure and promoting merit-based selection in cricket. “There should be no politics with players. We must respect talent and give chances based on merit, not party allegiance,” he stated, directly criticizing the previous CPIM-led regime for politicizing sports and sidelining deserving athletes.
Saha, who previously served as TCA president, recalled his involvement with the stadium project dating back to 2017, when construction was reportedly unplanned and mismanaged.
