Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland T. R. Zeliang, state Rural Development Minister Metsubo Jamir, and Vice Chancellor of Central Agricultural University (Imphal) Dr. Anupam Mishra were present when Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan officially opened the Administrative-cum-Academic Block of College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Central Agricultural University (Imphal), Jalukie, Nagaland. Chouhan emphasized Nagaland’s agricultural and livestock industries’ advancements in his inaugural address.
He has declared that the state of Nagaland will receive Rs 338.83 crore in financial assistance for the general expansion and advancement of the agricultural sector. He requested that the Nagaland government create an action plan for the state’s agricultural and rural development, and he promised the central government’s complete cooperation in this regard. According to Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the state government should establish a core scientific team for each district of Nagaland that consists of scientists, KVK officials, university professionals, and farmers.
This team should meet with the farmers in the villages at least twice a month to learn about their issues. The Union Minister summoned the students of the Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry College to Delhi to present their creative ideas to him, expressing gratitude for their efforts. He promised complete collaboration and funding for the kids’ start-up and entrepreneurship development. He committed to returning to Nagaland to engage with students and farmers.
